PEI Announces NSF-40 Class I Certification

Leads to new approvals in New Hampshire, Maine and Ohio, with more to come.Presby Environmental’s flagship product, the Advanced Enviro-Septic™ (“AES”) Treatment System, has received Certification under NSF International/ANSI’s Standard 40 for Wastewater Treatment Devices. Advanced Enviro-Septic™ CTD (“combined treatment and dispersal”) is the first NSF-40 Class I Certified system that is passive, provides combined treatment and dispersal, and never requires replacement media. The simplicity of the AES System makes it much more cost-effective to purchase and maintain than the complicated, expensive mechanical devices and advanced treatment units (ATUs) that usually obtain this Certification.

NSF Standard 40 sets performance standards for onsite wastewater treatment devices for residential systems with hydraulic capacities from 400 to 1500 gallons per day. In order to receive Standard 40 Class I Certification, systems are tested for a minimum of six months following NSF’s protocol and must achieve exceptional effluent quality. AES was tested at the Bureau de Normalisation du Quebec (“BNQ”) and received simultaneous NSF and BNQ Certification (see related article, below). AES is used in NSF-40 Certified systems and in non-certified systems pursuant to individual state approvals. AES has recently been approved for use in New Hampshire, Maine and Ohio (see article below). New approvals are pending in several other states, please call us or check our website for approval updates.

Advanced Enviro-Septic™ Receives BNQ Advanced Secondary Certification in Canada

Advanced Enviro-Septic NSF/BNQ Test Site in Quebec

As described in the article above, AES was tested in Quebec simultaneously under NSF and BNQ protocols. While NSF requires a six-month period of testing, the BNQ requires a full year of testing in order to confirm the system’s functionality during all four seasons. As a result of the latest round of BNQ testing, AES achieved BNQ’s Advanced Secondary Certification. For more information about the BNQ and its certification programs, visit www.bnq.qc.ca. See below for a list of all the international locations in which AES is in use.

Important Announcements and Breaking News!

Closer to the Water Table in New Hampshire! New AES Innovative Technology approval allows for reduced separation distance of 24 inches (from the pipe) to the seasonal high water table (systems up to 600 gallons per day). See full approval on our website.

More Options in Maine! Maine designers now have the option to use AES or Enviro-Septic® (“ES”) configurations when designing a system.

Is AES Approved in my State? We anticipate receiving AES approvals in Indiana, Vermont and Massachusetts in the near future. Other states are in the works, check our website for up-to-date approval information.

Statewide Approval in Ohio! The Ohio Department of Health has approved the AES Treatment System on a statewide basis with a one-foot soil depth credit for fecal coliform reduction. Select Ohio counties are also continuing to participate in an Experimental Concurrence Program with alternate bed sizing. Visit our website to read the full article about our product and the Experimental Concurrence Program published in the Ohio Journal of Environmental Health (excerpt below):

“The observations outlined here appear to indicate that the Enviro-Septic sewage treatment systems currently operating in Van Wert County [Ohio] are working well. This is evidenced in large part by an overall lack of serious hydraulic loading concerns.testing results suggest that effluent is very clean by the time it reaches the soil.”

–Jason Menchhofer, RS, in the Ohio Journal of Environmental Health

What’s Different About Advanced Enviro-Septic?

Advanced Enviro-Septic™ is the “next generation” of our Enviro-Septic® technology. AES provides superior treatment and dispersal processes as a result of the addition of Bio-Accelerator™. This proprietary enhancement filters additional solids from effluent, enhances and accelerates treatment, facilitates quick start-up after periods of non-use, provides additional surface area for bacterial growth, promotes even distribution, and further protects outer layers and the receiving surfaces so they remain permeable.
