Please reference your state specific design and installation manual for venting suggestions and requirements.  The following are general venting guidelines:

  • Adequate ventilation is essential to the proper functioning of the Advanced Enviro-Septic™ (AES) Treatment System and the Enviro-Septic® Wastwater Treatment System.
  • Vent openings must be located to ensure the unobstructed flow of air through the entire AES or Enviro-Septic® System.
  • High and low vents are required for all systems.
  • The low vent inlet must be a minimum of 3 ft. from final grade.
  • One 4 in. low vent is required for every 1,000 ft. of AES or Enviro-Septic® pipe.
  • A single 6 in. diameter low vent may be installed instead of three 4 in. diameter low vents.
  • The roof (house) vent is the “high vent” in gravity systems.
  • The diameter of the vent manifold must match the vent stack diameter.
  • Do not remove vents. Contact your system designer for venting options.
  • We do not recommend the use of charcoal filters on any vents to eliminate odor. If the system is properly vented a charcoal filter is not needed. In the rare event there is an odor issue, it should be investigated and the root cause(s) determined. If a positive draft has been confirmed, remotely locating the vent(s) may be the solution (see remote venting below). FAQ
