New York Status
The State of New York is currently in the process of revising their Wastewater Treatment Standards regarding gravelless wastewater treatment products such as Advanced Enviro-Septic™ and Enviro-Septic®. In particular, the NY Department of Health proposes a reduction in the required bed size in recognition of the superior treatment capabilities provided by such innovative technologies. However, until the Department of Health’s revision of their rules is completed, any bed size reduction requires a specific waiver from the local approving authority.
The interim guidelines being used in New York at the present time do not take full advantage of the unique capabilities of the Advanced Enviro-Septic™ and Enviro-Septic® Systems. For instance, the State of New York determined our product was acceptable for an absorption trench length reduction. However, our system is not configured in a trench format, it is installed in a sand bed. Another example, alternative systems in a bed configuration are required to utilize pressure distribution in New York. Our System does not require pressure distribution and, in fact, it would be detrimental to the functioning of our system if it was used. For these reasons, New York’s preliminary approval of our product simply does not reflect our design and installation criteria. We are sincerely concerned about providing the utmost in quality and value to our customers; if our product is utilized in ways other than how it was designed to be used, this goal cannot be achieved. For this reason, we have decided not to actively distribute our product in New York until such time as the conditions of our approval ensure that the use of our product is cost-effective for the consumer.
However, should your particular designer or local approving authority be agreeable to developing a design for your property that is in accordance with our guidelines. Product certification is required.
