Certification Training Classes

Presby Environmental and the Massachusetts DEP require all designers and installers of this system to be certified. It is highly recommended that those involved in the approval/permitting process also attend. Certification is obtained by attending the “Enviro-Septic® Designer and Installer Certification Course” presented by Presby Environmental, Inc., or its sanctioned representatives. To view the class schedule and certification options available click here.

Massachusetts Enviro-Septic® Wastewater Treatment System Quick Reference Guide Revised Sept. ‘09 Please click here to download to get the latest revisions and venting clarifications.

MassDEP has approved this newly revised Quick Reference Guide and has posted it on their website at http://mass.gov/dep/water/wastewater/iatechs.htm

Both the full length “Enviro-Septic® Wastewater Treatment System Massachusetts Design and Installation Manual” and the revised quick reference guide must be used to design/install an Enviro-Septic® system. In the event of conflicts between the two, the revised guide takes precedence until the full length manual has been updated. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Installers of Enviro-Septic® Systems must

  1. Provide Presby Environmental, Inc., and the local approving authority with a copy of a completed “System Installation Form” for each new or remedial system installed. Click here to download.
  2. Provide the system owner and the local approving authority with a bill of lading certifying that the sand fill meets ASTM C-33 standards.

Designers of Enviro-Septic® Systems must

  1. Provide the System owner with copies of the State’s Certification for General Use and/or Approval for Remedial Use.
  2. Provide the System owner with a copy of the system “Operating Manual”. Click here to download.
  3. Provide the System owner with a copy of the “Technology Checklist”. Click here to download.

We also have a quick reference guide available, however, you must read the complete “Enviro-Septic® Wastewater Treatment System Massachusetts Design and Installation Manual” to design/install an Enviro-Septic® System. To download the quick reference guide click here.

Annual System Inspection

The Massachusetts DEP approval requires all Enviro-Septic® Systems to be inspected annually. An Enviro-Septic® Technology checklist must be completed by an operator trained by Presby Environmental to inspect Enviro-Septic® Systems. To download the technology checklist click here.

Currently Enviro-Septic® Systems must be inspected annually.  Any certified Enviro-Septic® class attendee is a qualified inspector/operator.  That person must complete the MA DEP Approved Inspection and O & M Form as well as the Enviro-Septic® Technology Checklist (at the time of inspection).  These completed forms are submitted to both the Mass. DEP and the local board of health.  For remedial systems annual inspections must be completed by January 31st for the previous year.  For new construction (general use) annual inspections must be completed by September 30th for the previous year.

The MassDEP has designed a new “DEP Approved Inspection and O&M Form for Title 5 I/A Treatment and Disposal Systems” for Enviro-Septic® systems. Specifically, MassDEP excludes the “Field Testing” and “Sampling Information” requirements when inspecting Enviro-Septic®. Completing this new form does not require a class 2 operator’s signature even in pumped systems. Click here to download form.
