Closer to the Water Table in New Hampshire!
New Advanced Enviro-Septic® Innovative Technology approval allows for reduced separation distance of 24 inches (from the pipe) to the seasonal high water table (systems up to 600 gallons per day).
Certification Training Classes
Presby Environmental strongly encourages all those involved in the design, installation or permitting of an onsite Advanced Enviro-Septic® or Enviro-Septic® System to attend a certification course. Certification is required for those who design or install Multi-Level™ Advanced Enviro-Septic® or Enviro-Septic® Systems. To view the class schedule and certification options click on the ‘Training and Certification’ tab above.
CEUs May Apply
GSDI is offering 4 CEUs for Certified Septic Evaluators who have taken and passed our certification course. This is for a one-time use. Those who have taken credit for the course cannot take the course again and claim the credit again.DES Subsurface Systems Bureau is offering 3 Continuing Education Credit Hours. Permitted Designers and Installers who have taken and passed our online certification course after March 25, 2010. This is for a one time use. When credit is taken for our course, credit will not be given if the course is taken again.

New Hampshire grants New Innovative/Alternative Technology Approval allowing a 30″ vertical separation distance to seasonal high water table, bedrock or other impermeable surface. Enviro-Septic® design plans already approved with a 36″ separation distance may be amended by the designer to reflect a 30″ separation distance without submitting a new application to NHDES (if system size and location are not changed). Designers must incorporate a note reflecting this revised ITA Approval on all Enviro-Septic plans. Click here for more information (PDF file)
Enviro-Septic® and Advanced Enviro-Septic® Venting Clarification:
All Advanced Enviro-Septic® Systems must be vented; however Enviro Septic® systems still follow the venting guidelines put forth in the 2003 Enviro-Septic® & Simple-Septic®Leaching Systems Design and Installation Manual. These require a vent when:
- When a pump is used to gain elevation from the septic tank to the leach field
- When there is more than 18” of cover over the field
- When under any parking, roads, or other hardscape that will reduce air passage.
- All Multi Level Systems must be vented.
The information contained in the 2003 manual is still relevant for Enviro Septic® Systems, and we do still support the Enviro Septic® product.
We do recommend all systems to be vented, whether AES or ES. A vent will mitigate future situations out of the designers control, such as additional soil cover used in landscaping, occasional instances of higher volume loading, etc.
Bypass Venting alternative to Differential Venting
(Differential venting is required for systems utilizing a pump to gain elevation to the field)
Flow Equalizers
When do we require flow equalizers and what type is allowed?
A flow equalizer is always required on distribution box outlets whenever the flow is being divided. If only one outlet of a distribution box is being used, a flow equalizer is not required. Our preference is that the Polylok® flow Equalizer®be used, which is claimed to maintain equal flow even when the distribution box shifts over time and becomes out-of-level. However, our manual does allow the use of other equivalent devices. When pumping to a distribution box the same rule would apply; if only one distribution box outlet is being used, no flow equalizer is required. In New Hampshire, certification is required for all designers and installers when working with Enviro-Septic® Multi-Level™ or EnviroFin® systems. The classes are a great way to learn more about our product, even if you are not seeking certification. We strongly recommend regulators involved in the review and inspection of Presby systems take the certification training.
As part of certification, an assessment test is required. This should be taken only after viewing the class videos and reading the NH Design and Installation Manual. The test is open book and is not timed. A passing score of 70% is required for certification.
CEUs May Apply
